Artist's Description

This unusual abstract photo strikes me as the view one might have from the inside of a spent rocket engine as it falls away from the space capsule above it. In reality, the photo has more to do with the ocean than outer space!
I was at an oceanfront restaurant built above the water and filled with nautical decor, including lanterns glowing with "invisible" flames. Closer inspection revealed the lanterns were mounted over hollow cement tubes extended down to the ocean below. Suspended inside the tube was a bucket with candles to light the lantern above.
For fun, I pointed my camera and a flash down the tube and took several shots. The candle glow inside the tube and the flash reflection "stars" on the water really gave it a spacey feel.
The title of course comes from the song by the great Elton John.

About Terry Walsh

Terry Walsh

"God is the artist. Photographers make copies." Why Photography? Because I HAVE to. My photography journey began with a camera my brother gave me on my 8th grade graduation. Soon after, a casual hobby became a passion rivaled only by my lifelong love of music. Music can magically transport a listener anywhere- real or imagined. I try to capture that same feeling through photography and take the viewer on a visual journey they can enjoy every time they look at the picture. Terry Walsh Dallas, Texas USA
